Las Fallas festivities take place in the city of Valencia and its surroundings in March, especially from 15th to 19th. Artists make magnificent and gigantic figures out of wood and other materials, to bring to life characters with a satirical and ironic vision of national and international events, there are lots of fireworks, music, decorative lights and the best of the Valencian gastronomy for everyone to enjoy. 

A Festival in which the residents of neighbourhoods gather in the popular barracas to enjoy a paella, the most traditional dish of the Valencian gastronomy. Everyone provides the different ingredients: rice, saffron, olive oil... and prepare it in the open air, surrounded by a festive atmosphere and celebration. It is also typical, to organize competitions in which residents compete to see who makes the best paella.
