Viking Pilgrimage
The first Sunday of August a peculiar celebration takes place in Catoira (Galicia), the Viking pilgrimage, in which the inhabitants of the village stage Viking invasions that took place a thousand years ago. The day begins with folk dances and a medieval market, to give way to the landing of vikings on board of a replica of a boat from the 11th century.
After the battle, accompanied by the sound of bagpipes, everyone enjoys a picnic, don't miss the opportunity to eat typical Galician-Style octopus. The party continues throughout the night where several activities take place, such as plays.
